The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Jurassic Park

Have you ever wanted to “Walk Like A Dinosaur”? Well you can at The Unauthorized Musical Parody of: Jurassic Park. This fun-loving romp takes place at Rockwell Table & Stage in Los Angeles.

The actors in this production are filled to the brim with talent and hilarity. The story follows Elli (Lesley McKinnell) and Grant (Keir Kirkegaard) as they, along with a billionaire creator and a mathematician go on a visit to an island theme park filled with genetically engineered dinosaurs. They are there to assess the safety of the park – and oops, it's not safe! In fact, it's to die for!

Ellie, played by Lesley McKinnell, shines through and her voice is amazing. Truthfully the whole cast is full to the brim of vocal talent, along with their supreme comedic timing.

With songs including “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Bring Me to Life” this musical parody moves along at a fast clip. The hilarity ensues with the actors creating over the top performances. One of the standouts is Joe Calarco as Ian Malcolm, which was originally played by Jeff Goldblum in the movie. Joe mimics the affectations and tics of Goldblum to amazing effect. He also made sure to emphasize several times in the production his “role” in Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, a jazz parody performed at the Rockwell.

The UMPO series is created and written by Kate Pazakis, and merges movies and musical theatre as it is performed along with a live band and contains tons of pop hits. And the actors jaunt around the theatre, they interact with the audience with fun quips and jokes to enhance the show. And Kate joins the cast onstage as a ferocious – yet fashionable – T-Rex along with fellow dinosaur Molly Stilliens! After all, “Life will find a way!”

The characters in the movie are exaggerated for comic effect. Dedrick Bonner plays Dr. Arnold. His acting is full of vim and vigor with elements of Samuel Jackson in “Snakes on a Plane.” Fun-filled performances ensue. As for the two kids that were such a huge part of the film, Amanda Kruger plays Tim, who bounces along everywhere he goes, and Lana McKissack plays Lex, a self-proclaimed vegan.

The Rockwell Table & Stage is an intimate venue that immerses you completely into the show, with a 360-degree live theatrical concert and dining experience and The Unauthorized Musical Parody of: Jurassic Park takes advantage of this. You will definitely feel the heavy tread of the dinosaurs around the space and watch breathlessly as the characters race around trying not to get eaten! It's a roller coaster of emotions where you will cheer and laugh along.

The Unauthorized Musical Parody of: Jurassic Park runs through April 28th, 2018. The Rockwell Table & Stage is located at 1714 N. Vermont Ave., in Los Angeles. The indoor dining room opens each night at 5:30 p.m. with shows beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $34/$54/$64. For more information call (323) 669-1550 or log onto
