Summer is finally here and while the threat of COVID19 is still taking place there are many summer getaways and activities that have reopened and are allowing for a great time.

Airbnb and Vrbo vacation rentals are a way to hit the road while maintaining social distancing. You can cook your meals and enjoy amenities in a way that is responsible and socially distance friendly. As well, extended stays are becoming more and more popular. At Airbnb, hosts can be certified by complying with a checklist of standards.

Travelers who search for a space on Vrbo can see if the disinfectant is being used to clean the home, if no-contact check-in is available, and if the home is unavailable for 24 hours between guests.

Getaway offers tiny homes and cabins that are within driving distance of major cities. Getaway is built for social distancing: You let yourself in, and there is no check-in desk or restaurant. For now, the company is also limiting capacity to 50 percent.

A road trip is a great option that is safe and perfect for summer.

In Placerville, the lush gardens and luxurious accommodations of Eden Vale Inn are beckoning travelers for a restorative getaway. Book a two-night stay in any room or suite now through August 31, and save $50 off each night. The offer includes tasting room discounts of up to 25 percent and a fresh, gourmet breakfast served at a private table for two or in-room dining.

La Jolla Cove in San Diego offers shopping, snorkeling, scuba, and ocean-front restaurants. In Newport Beach, you can dock and dine on a yacht with Hornblower cruises. There will be reduced guest capacity on all boats, with an updated layout of dining spaces where tables have been removed to ensure social distancing between diners.

The campground at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park has re-opened, however, campsites are available by reservation only. Also, only six people and two vehicles are permitted at each campsite.

Napa Valley welcomes you with a full glass. Hotels, wineries, tasting rooms, restaurants, and retail shops are again able to receive visitors, with modifications for social distancing and health.

Considered a nature walk that takes place in the sky, hot-air ballooning in Napa Valley is the perfect way to ride into the sunrise. Northstar's golf course is set to reopen July 15 and Kirkwood will be reopening hiking and biking trails, with no lift access, as well as disc golf. Face coverings will be required and the capacity of people on lifts and gondolas has been reduced.

Yosemite National Park is one of the most iconic destinations in the world. The Oak Riparian Park in Oceanside is a scenic space that connects to over six miles of trails via Carlsbad's Calavera Trail System, providing access to a fun hike up Mount Calavera, an old volcanic plug. Guajome Regional Park offers more than four miles of park trails to meander through surrounded by chaparral, woodlands, wetlands, and mixed grasslands. There are also two gorgeous fishing ponds and a sizable amount of open grass area, perfect for a picnic. Garrison Creek Trail is a short one-mile trail through rolling hills with lovely sights around each bend. Fishermen also have numerous opportunities to snag their catch of the day.
