Midsummer Art Events and Activities

It's the beautiful season of summertime and that equals getting out of the house. There are so many interesting and fun activities that will entertain and create enjoyment. From festivals with a variety of artistic options to unique pop-ups that create a blend of recreation, you simply can't go wrong here in Los Angeles.

Art Festivals

Beautiful works of creative expression are a staple of Los Angeles art festivals.

The Open Arts and Music Festival is a free all-ages festival which takes place in front of the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. The Festival has a vital lineup of live music, an arts market with free workshops, a beer garden with local craft breweries, public art installations, and all-day fun for kids. 216 North Brand Blvd., Glendale. Sept. 14.

A unique community fundraising event, Inglewood Festival of the Arts offers live music, art exhibits, food and merchandise vendors, activities for kids and more. Somos Arte: Music & Arts Festival offers a wine and beer bar, live music featuring Buyepongo, Feefa, Irene Diaz, Leche Funk, and more, food and art vendors and an Augmented Reality art exhibit by AR Funhouse with artists from El Salvador. With a goal is to learn from and connect with Latinx video game development professionals and industry veterans, Latinx Games Festival features an arcade with video games playable onsite along with talks and roundtables. The Museum of Latin American Art, 628 Alamitos Ave., Long Beach. Sept. 14.

The Barnsdall Art and Craft Fair is the perfect way to enjoy art with your friends and family and support local artists. Shop for gifts and enjoy lunch and tasty treats from local restaurants. Diverse work from the Art Center students and faculty including handcrafted jewelry, ceramics, cards, prints, fiber arts, tableware, paintings, drawings, and photography. Art Workshops and Exhibitions

Artistic traits can be truly inspiring as well as educational.

In the Festival Headpiece Workshop, under the guidance of two experts, you will construct your complex headpiece. They will teach you the basics of head-wear crafting. During the class, you will have the opportunity to learn the technical and structural aspects of artisanal craftsmanship and incorporate your ideas. Mash Gallery celebrates light art with six contemporary artists and a unified blend of Geometric Abstraction, Conceptual Realism, and Light and Space art. This multi-sensory showcase ranges from the two-dimensional, painted canvases, to three-dimensional works composed of alternative materials, plastics, glass, and metal. Music Festivals

Relax as the sounds of beautiful tunes fill the air.

The West Adams Avenues Jazz and Musical Festival "Under the Stars," began 17 years ago! What started as a culturally diverse gathering of neighbors with picnic baskets and lawn chairs, enjoying local musicians turned into three full nights of music, dancing in the streets, activities for children, a dance contest, arts, crafts and jewelry from local artisans, and fabulous foods. 2521 7th Ave., Los Angeles.

Back for its 10th anniversary, the African Fashion and Music Festival will be a spectacle. Ankara Festival Los Angeles celebrates with a line up of activities; fashion runway, music performers, comedy, live band, saxophonist, and dancers. Food and Drink Festivals

Chow down and sip as you relax and explore these fun-filled festivals.

Celebrate Coastal Clean-Up Month with tastings from the city's best chefs and restaurants made with their favorite underwater ingredients at the 5th Annual Off The Hook Santa Monica Seafood Festival. Featuring live bands, beer garden, wine tastings, games, and an oyster shucking competition. Santa Monica Pier, 200 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica. Sept. 14.

Go Bananas at the Port with tasty banana treats, local bands, and the cool ocean breezes! The Port of Hueneme Banana Festival offers port tours where you learn about the inner-workings of the port, a kid's zone with bounce houses, bungee, games, reptile exhibits and banana crafts, local bands that will get you grooving, mouthwatering eats and boutique clothing, handcrafted jewelry, garden art, hats, sunglasses, and much more. Pinot Palooza invites you to come, soak up the wine, music and taste your way across the #pinot spectrum. Festival highlights include over 100 wines, 40 wineries, vermouth bar, beer, and a massive food line up. City Market Social House, 1145 San Pedro St., Los Angeles. Sept. 28.

There is no other beer festival nationally that compares to the 8th Annual Thousand Oaks Brewfest. The boutique atmosphere translates into no long lines while getting up close and personal with some of the best Brewmasters in the country. Conejo Creek Park North, 1379 E. Janss Rd., Thousand Oaks. 2019 Summer Wine Down in Westlake Village allows you to enjoy a fabulous afternoon filled with music, wine tasting, and delicious food. Entertainment brought to you by Emile Borde Drums. Westlake Yacht Club, 32123 Lindero Canyon Rd., Westlake Village. Aug. 18.

Join the LA Taco and Beer Festival for a perfect day filled with amazing tacos and craft beer from the best local restaurants and breweries! Guests will experience unlimited pours of craft beer as well as unlimited taco tastings. Also, restaurants and food trucks will be selling additional cuisine and beverages. Experience the Rosé & Bubbles Festival, for a celebration of some of the finest producers of Champagne, sparkling wine, and Rosé from around the world! Los Angeles Tea Festival is your passport to the world of tea! Tea lovers and inquisitive newcomers are invited to experience top-quality tea and engage in in-depth discussions and presentations on teas from every region. The third annual Harvest Festival is back! Enjoy the offerings of wine, beer, samples of your favorite foods, live music performances and entertainment, a charity grape stomp, and more! These temporary spaces offer a great source of merriment. It's the perfect way to explore!

The inaugural Five07 Creative Fest is happening in Calabasas! This event will feature top musicians, artists, craft alcohol makers, and other creatives. It will be a celebration of creativity and community, bringing thousands of people together. All musicians and artists exhibited in the pop-up hail from Southern California. Headlined by Yoshi Flower, Hot Flash Heat Wave, Winnetka Bowling League. Art exhibits featuring Sima Benson, Mary Lippert, and dozens more! King Gillette Ranch, 26800 West Mulholland Hwy., Calabasas. PopUp Dinner L.A. is a beautiful picnic, a vibrant gathering, and a dance party. No other event brings together hundreds of people to celebrate creativity quite like this! Buy your ticket and plan your picnic, but the question remains: where will the evening take place in Los Angeles? The exact location is revealed on the day of the dinner. Featuring the House of Suntory Tiny House for highballs and specialty cocktails. All white attire is the theme and creativity is mandatory. Aug. 17.

Celebrate summer nights with good vibes and great food. Come chill with some fly folk during Taco Tuesday. Back in November 2018, HGTV announced plans to restore the Brady Bunch House to its 1970's glory. Since then, there have been A Very Brady Renovation updates, including a digital mini-series and a nationwide scavenger hunt to locate furniture and decor pieces perfect for the Brady House. HGTV has now announced that the renovation is officially finished! A Very Brady Renovation premieres later this year on
