Jay Leno's Car Collection
You probably know Jay Leno from his hit late-night show The Tonight Show, but another claim to his fame is his huge collection of cars. Leno loves to buy and work on his assortment of rare vehicles, and many of the cars are worth six figures or more.
Leno's collection of 286 vehicles (169 cars and 117 motorcycles) comes out at more than $50 million, and they are all parked in a custom garage.
Jay Leno bought his first car in 1964 at a mere fourteen years old. Once he got his driver's license he started amassing a wide selection of different makes and models.
Jay Leno set his sights on the 1963 Chrysler Turbine to add to his collection. It's one of the most expensive and highly coveted cars that he owns. This, along with an Ecojet designed just for him, are the only two turbine cars that he owns.
There are also five electric cars in Leno's batch of automobiles. Three of them are from the early 1900s, including the classic Baker Electric, which is extremely hard to find. And he even updated his 1914 Detroit Electric for the modern age, by giving it Bluetooth and air conditioning.
Seven steam cars are in residence in Jay Leno's garage. Most are Stanley Steamer cars such as a 1925 Doble E-20, the first steamer car with only the turn of a key to start.
Giant cars are distinctively longer with a loud tank engine. Jay Leno owns a few of these classic cars, including the Mercedes Radic and the 1917 Fiat Botafogo. However the most famous giant cars that he owns are the modern Chrysler tank car and the Blastolene Special, designed by Randy Grubb specifically for Jay Leno. The cars cost over $350,000 to build.
Trucks in Jay Leno's collection include service vehicles, like an unusual 1911 Christie Fire Engine and a 1946 Shell Oil Truck. Leno also owns a Davis Divan three-wheeler.
And while Jay Leno isn't a race car driver, he loves to collect these stunning and iconic cars. He owns a total of seven race cars, including favorites like the 2006 Ariel Atom and the incredibly rare Light Car Company Rocket. As well, two of these vehicles are from Bugatti, the vintage predecessor of the modern race car.
Supercars are known for being high-performance and carrying steep price tags. Jay Leno owns fourteen of these vehicles, including the 1969 Lamborghini Miura S, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful supercars ever made. The most expensive supercar in Jay Leno's selection is the 2014 McLaren P1. Only 375 of these cars exist today and are worth approximately $1.35 million. He also owns the 1994 version valued at $970,000.
Convertibles are one of Jay Leno's favorite types of cars, as he has over 30 in his collection. In 2018, he procured a 1966 Lincoln Continental. While Leno enjoys restoring his older cars, this was completely original and may be the most valuable convertible in his collection.
Jay Leno's favorite style of car is the coupe. He owns nearly 50 of them, with models spanning from 2015 all the way back to 1915.
The most expensive car in Jay Leno's garage is his 1955 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing Coupe. He initially paid a staggering $1.8 million for it and has devoted hundreds of hours into restoring it to make it even more valuable.
What a great batch of cars!
