It's summertime! The sun is out and the weather is warm and gorgeous. There are so many ways to savor these lazy days (and nights). Enjoy the summer season with unique and fun activities, outdoor concerts and movies, art exhibits and fun festivals.


Art offers the scenery of talent and is a great way to explore and learn.

The Pasadena Chalk Festival is the largest street painting festival, welcoming more than 600 artists using over 25,000 sticks of chalk and drawing a crowd of more than 100,000 visitors in one weekend. Previous festivals have attracted artists and design teams from many regions of the country, across Southern California, and virtually every Los Angeles-area community. Have you ever wanted to reach for the stars? The Southern California Rocket Association is your ticket. There are two local model rocket launches per month, located at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale. Model rockets are typically constructed of materials like cardboard, plastic, and balsa wood and can be purchased in almost every hobby shop and toy store.

The Valley Cultural Center presents its 42nd Annual Free Concerts on the Green. Plan for a late afternoon picnic with the family while being entertained by headline performers. World Rhythms – Join Descanso Gardens for a summer series of world music and dance that

Outdoor Movies

Lights, camera, action! The big screen is here!

Taking place on Saturday nights at rotating venues from Downtown L.A. to Santa Monica, Eat|See|Hear boasts the largest outdoor screen on the West Coast and state-of-the-art audio. Every screening features a curated line-up of food trucks and an opening performance by an up-and-coming band. DTLA screenings at Los Angeles State Historic Park include "The Greatest Showman" (June 29), and "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" (July 20). Screenings also take place at the Autry Museum of the American West, such as "Thelma and Louise" (June 15), "Fight Club" (June 22), "Casablanca" (July 13), "North by Northwest" (Aug. 3), "Fargo" (Aug. 10), and "The Shining" (Aug. 31).

Summer Movie Nights are back in the San Fernando Valley! Bring your family, friends, and pack a picnic for a movie night under the stars. The screenings take place at various locations, including themed screenings like Aquaman and Shark Tale at Hansen Dam Aquatic Center. All movie screenings begin at 7:30 p.m. and popcorn will be provided.
